Lake Shore Drive Co-op Simplex
Chicago, IL
This full floor Lake Shore Drive Co-op renovation was a complete gut, but the reorganized floor plan is in keeping with the original enfilade layout across the lake front exposure. The more public spaces combine to provide vistas of the lake and Lake Shore Drive. The main hall was widened to create a gallery for the owners' art collection. The original structure was designed in 1928 by Robert S. DeGolyer with a Tudor and Gothic flair. Each apartment is either a simplex or duplex on private or semiprivate floors. The penthouse of the building was once occupied by Ray Croc of McDonald’s fame.
