Palladian Inspired Natatorium
Glencoe, IL
Detailed in Italian limestone from the Lecce region, this Palladian influenced guest house was built to be the focal point of a formal Italian garden designed by Chicago based landscape designer Doug Hoerr. The design includes a classical natatorium inspired by the designs of McKim, Mead and White and the main façade of the guest house is influenced by the Palladian bridge at Stowe and several Dresden villas. Handling the projects technical challenges (creating a curved stone arcade and dehumidification of an indoor pool) speaks to the experience of the team headed by Gibbons, Fortman & Associates.
